About this category

These bat coloring pages are more sweet than spooky. A round bat hangs upside down from a bare branch, a baby bat peeks out of a blanket under the moon, and a young bat takes off for its first flight while two older ones look on.

The simple sheets are the hanging bat, the bundled baby and the three bats flying in a row. The rest add more to color, like a bat family in a hollow tree with an owl beside them or four bats circling a castle tower.

Bats do not have to be black. Dark gray, deep purple or brown let the face and the little ears still show. For a night sky, color the background first with a dark blue crayon pressed lightly, then go over the bat in a deeper shade.

They are an easy choice for October, for a classroom Halloween table or a party where not every child likes a scare. The bat holding a carved pumpkin lantern and the owl and bat above the pumpkin patch tie in nicely with the other fall sheets.
