A stone well with a wooden bucket stands among old olive trees, and a dirt path winds up to a hilltop village of flat-roofed houses under pink-tinged clouds.

Bible stories for kids to read aloud

Noah’s Ark, David and Goliath, Jonah and the Whale, and more Bible stories, retold from the King James Version to read aloud, free and with no account.

These Bible stories are told as stories, for reading aloud to children. Each one follows the King James Version in plain, present-day English: what happens is what the Bible says, with nothing added to explain it. God speaks and acts in them as in Scripture itself, and no story ends on a sermon.

In Noah’s Ark the dove comes back in the evening with a freshly picked olive leaf in her beak. In David and Goliath the shepherd boy tries on King Saul’s armor, finds he can’t walk in it, and goes out with his sling and five smooth stones from the stream. In Jonah and the Whale, Jonah lies fast asleep in the hold while the sailors throw the cargo overboard, and in Moses, a baby is set in a basket of papyrus reeds at the edge of the Nile.

Every story is free to read from beginning to end, with no account needed.
