Jacob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786–1859) were German scholars who collected and published folk tales, shaping the fairy-tale canon of Europe. Their Kinder- und Hausmärchen, first published in 1812, grew through seven editions into one of the most beloved books in the world.
