Happy birthday coloring pages

These birthday pages are full of things that belong to a party: a two-tier cake with five lit candles, bunches of balloons tied with bows, presents waiting to be opened, a bouquet in a round vase and a wooden spinning top turning on its point.

The cake, the bouquet, the present on a cushion and the dog made of long balloons have large, open shapes for the youngest children. The folk candlestick, the teddy bear on a big present and the girl watching balloons fly away have more detail for older ones.

Many of the balloons and presents are decorated with fruit: cherries, pears, grapes and pomegranates. Color the fruit first in its own colors, then choose a balloon color that is lighter or darker than the fruit, so the pattern still shows clearly on the finished sheet.

A finished page folded in half makes a birthday card with a few words written inside, and several can be hung up as decorations before the party. While coloring the cake, children like to talk about how old they are now and how many candles they will have next year.
