House coloring pages

These pages are full of homes big and small: a little house with a heart cut into its door, a village house with smoke curling from the chimney, a treehouse with a ladder, a birdhouse on a post and a kennel where a dog naps beside a bone.

The front door with flower pots, the window with a cat on the sill and the girl watering her flowers have big, clear shapes that the youngest can manage. The village street, the house on a hill and the painted folk cottage have more flowers and patterns for older kids.

A house looks friendlier with a few warm choices. Pick one color for the walls and a darker one for the roof, then give the doors, shutters and window boxes something bright. On the folk cottage, repeat the same two or three colors across the flowers and vases.

These pages lead easily into a chat about home: who lives behind each door, which window could be your room, where a dog or a bird would sleep. They also suit a lesson on houses around the world or a quiet afternoon drawing your own street.
