Car coloring pages

In this set of car coloring pages, a cheerful race car with a big number on its side sits next to a fire truck racing down a city street with its ladder out. There is also a tow truck, a tractor plowing a field and a camper van with a surfboard on the roof.

The tiny car with oversized wheels, the race car, the tow truck and the camper van are simple enough for a preschooler. Older kids get more to work on with the cars at a drive-in movie, the classic car outside a diner or the race on a checkered track.

Shiny paint is easy to fake: leave a narrow strip of white paper along the top of each car and color the rest. Hubcaps look better in light gray, and a black crayon is best saved for the tires and the shadow under the car.

Kids who line up toy cars on the rug often like to color the same models they own. The road trip on the mountain highway is a good sheet to bring along in the car, and the delivery van on a busy street can start a talk about who brings the packages.
