About this category
Each sheet holds one big numeral, from 0 up to 10, standing on a strip of meadow with tufts of grass. Inside the outline run folk patterns such as rows of scallops, a tulip or a round flower, and the holes inside the numerals stay plain white.
The shapes are large and the lines are thick, so even toddlers can fill a 1 or a 7 with a single crayon. Older kids can treat the patterns as a small puzzle and give every scallop and petal its own color, or trace the numeral with a finger first.
Color the numeral itself in one strong shade first, so it still reads as a 3 or a 5 from across the room, then pick lighter colors for the patterns inside. Keep the meadow green and simple, or draw a few bugs and flowers of your own on it.
The sheets suit a preschool unit on numbers, a classroom wall where each child colors one digit, or the front of a birthday card showing the right age. Nothing on them is counted, so lay real buttons or blocks beside the page and count those instead.
