About this category

Most of these lions spend a quiet day on the savanna: one sits upright with a flower on its chest, one walks past two acacia trees, one bends down to drink at a water hole among the cattails, and one stands still while a small bird perches on its back.

The big lion head, the cub fast asleep beside two heart-shaped leaves and the cub watching a butterfly are bold, simple shapes for little ones. The giraffe eating from an acacia while a lion looks up from the grass has more flowers, leaves and clouds for older kids.

The manes here are drawn as rings of rounded locks, so treat each lock like a flower petal. Alternate a golden yellow with a warm orange, or fade from light at the face to dark brown at the edge. The lionesses have no mane and look best in one sandy tan.

The lioness carrying her cub gently in her mouth and the one resting with her cub between her paws are a good start for a chat about how lion families live together. The savanna scenes also fit a school project about Africa or a rainy afternoon at home.
