Rainbow coloring pages

In the rainbow coloring pages the arch always has company: a smiling sun peeping over the top, birds flying across it, hearts floating around it, a castle underneath, and a pot of gold where it reaches the ground.

Several are simple, like the rainbow resting on two clouds or the one rising out of a cloud with three raindrops, which leave big bands to fill. The children under a rainbow, the cat asleep on the top band and the castle scene are more detailed.

A real rainbow keeps its colors in the same order: red on the outside, then orange, yellow, green, blue and violet on the inside. Several of these arches are drawn with six bands, which fits that order exactly, and naming each color aloud helps a child learn them.

Rainbows are good for a gray day indoors, and the rainbow in the rain, with a child holding an umbrella, fits one especially well. A finished sheet taped to a window is a cheerful thing for neighbors to see from the street.
