Color by number coloring pages

On these color by number pages each picture is split into numbered areas: a butterfly, a cat, a fish, a hot air balloon, a castle with three towers, a long-necked dinosaur, a parrot with layered wing feathers and a rocket with numbered stars beside it.

The simple ones, such as the car, the cat and the flower, have about a dozen large areas and suit children who are just learning their numbers. The castle, the dinosaur, the parrot and the unicorn have around twenty smaller areas for older kids.

Every sheet has a key along the bottom: the numbers 1 to 5 or 1 to 6, each with a small square. Color each square first, so every number has its color before the picture starts, then work through one number at a time. That way nothing gets missed.

These pages practice counting and number recognition without feeling like homework, which makes them handy in kindergarten and first grade. They also suit a quiet table at the end of a class party, since every child works from the same rules.
