Color by number coloring pages

Every picture here is divided into areas, and each area has a number printed inside it. Under the drawing sits a key, a row of empty squares with one number beside each. The child decides what a number is going to mean, colors that square to record it, then works through the drawing giving every area of that number the same treatment. Nothing on the page says the butterfly has to be orange, so one sheet printed twice can come out two different ways.

Six of the twelve keep their areas wide and their keys short: a butterfly, a fish, a flower, a hot air balloon, a sitting cat and a small car. A dinosaur, a unicorn, an owl, a rocket, a parrot and a castle run to six numbers over eighteen or twenty areas, which is a good hour for a seven year old. Counting the areas aloud before anyone starts helps a younger child, because the matching is what takes the concentration, not the coloring.
